1. 党政机构和职务的英文译名应参照其在官方网站或官方宣传材料中公布的官方译名。各地方党政机构和职务可参照相应中央和国家机构的英文译名进行翻译。
2. 组织机构译名一般为实词，首字母大写，虚词小写。组织机构第一次提及时，应使用全称，并可在其后用括号标注其规范简称，之后可视情况使用规范缩略语。
3. 中国共产党所属的“部”(包括中央和地方)均译为 department 。例如：
中共中央组织部 Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee
中共河北省委宣传部 Publicity Department of the CPC Hebei Provincial Committee
4. 国务院所属的“部”译为 ministry，“委员会”一般译为 commission, “总局”一般译为general administration, “局”一般译为 administration,也有个别译作 bureau。例如：
国家统计局 National Bureau of Statistics
部委以下的“司”及各地方政府的“厅”一般译为 department,“办公厅”则译为 general office,各地方的“局”一般译为 bureau，“委员会”一般译为 commission。例如：
福建省教育厅 the Fujian Provincial Education Department
上海市商务委员会 the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce
5. 中国共产党所属各部“部长”建议均译为 director 或 head，通过后面的单位名称来判断其级别，必要时可以在 director 后括注级别。例如：
中共中央宣传部部长 director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee
中共北京市委统战部部长 director(director general level)of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee
6. 国务院所属正部级机构（包括各部、委员会、办公室、总局、总署等）的负责人，除已有明确译法的（如中国人民银行行长译为 governor,审计署审计长译为 auditor general ）以外，一般可以统一译为 minister；副部级机构中，英文名称译为 administration 的机构，其负责人一般可以统一译为 administrator/commissioner。
